All the breeds are raised for their eggs and meat. The meats of all the breed will have different taste. Nattu Kozhi are bred by farmers in small scale. Nattu kozhi will be exposed to nature because it will be developed in outdoors not in indoor. Country chickens will run around for searching the food. It takes its feed by scratching the dirt for worms and insects and from the food waste. It gets matured in approximately 200 days (six to seven months). The meat obtained after the matured period will be very flavour. The tender meet will be very tasty but the old chick meat could be stringy. The eggs laid by nattu kozhi is also very healthy. Nattu kozhi will withstand more heat and it have resistant power to disease.

Broiler chicks have flavourless (tasteless) meat due to their diet control. It will be developed in indoor. Broiler chicken will not run around and it will stay in a particular place. The feed will be given for the chicks. Due to unhealthy breeding condition broiler chicks will have very weak bones. It gets matured within 45 days (six to seven weeks) with an average weight of 1.5 Kg But nattu kozhi weight will be around 200-300 gms in that six weeks.
