livestock farming

Agriculture plays a vital role in our country. One fourth of our country’s total revenue comes from the agriculture in that animal husbandry contributes 33 percent. Integrated farming system integrates agriculture with animal husbandry (Poultry, Fish, Goat, Dairy farm etc) which can be develop in the same place. Integrated or Organic farms generates more income as well as provide employment throughout the year. Nowadays due to the scarcity of water most of the lands are becoming barren land. Integrated farming can also be done in this kind of land. In integrated farming the excreta from livestock can be used as a manure for the soil which produces organic food and the cost of fertilizer can be reduced. Panchagavya (mixing of cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd, jaggery, ghee, banana, Tender coconut and water) gives more yield. Crop residues can be given as a feed for the livestock. Production of Azolla in small area becomes a protein rich feed for the poultry. It reduces the feed cost considerably. By integrated farming we can reduce the overall cost compare to individual farming. At the same time we can obtain more yield. Milk, egg and meat gives regular income.
